Report a Found Pet to Animal Control

Are you able to provide foster care for the animal while it's owner is located?

I am able to provide foster care for the animal

  1. Place an advertisement in the Savannah Newspaper (652-0225), Pennysaver (238-2040), Tell-N-Sell (927-7731) and the Spirit of the Westside (748-3567). Lost and found ads are FREE in these papers. Be sure to include the date and area where you animal was lost or found.

  2. Post signs in nearby convenience stores, grocery stores and veterinarian's offices, not on utility poles. If a picture is included on the sign, it is easier for someone to identify their pet.

  3. Check with your mail carrier, garbage collectors and other individuals who regularly frequents your neighborhood.

  4. Call the following:
    • Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Referral Center at (912) 355-6113
    • VCA Greater Savannah Animal Hospital at (912) 355-8898
If Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Animal Control transports an injured animal, one of those emergency facilities will be our destination.

  5. ALSO NOTIFY THESE AGENCIES
  6. Provide the Humane Society with the found pet's information by phoning (912) 354-9515.

  7. Check on Craigslist.org website.

  8. Check with ALL veterinarians

We hope this helps in your search for pet's owner.

Sincerely,
Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Animal Control Staff
