All volunteers will adhere to SCMAC policies and procedures set forth within this Volunteer Policy and as given direction through training and staff direction.
The importance of volunteers to SCMAC cannot be overstated. Without volunteers, the staff could not perform their duties as needed and the animals would not receive the care and treatment they need and require.
It is the goal of the volunteer program to enhance the quality of care given the animals and assist the staff where needed.
To assure the placement of competent volunteers within the SCMAC Volunteer Program and to provide proper supervision for those volunteers working directly with staff, the community and the animals, the following policies have been established.
SCMAC and the Volunteer Director reserves the right to temporarily or permanently deny entry to the volunteer program. Possible reasons for denial may include, but not limited to, the following:
All volunteers MUST maintain confidentiality concerning the daily operation of SCMAC. The goal is to achieve a favorable reputation in the community. All volunteers will understand and sign the Volunteer Code of Ethics/Confidentiality Statement. Volunteer will discuss with Volunteer Coordinator, Volunteer Director and/or staff member regarding something that is bothersome to them. It is important to remember that we are there to ASSIST and not cause issues.
All volunteers have the right to express concerns regarding any aspect of SCMAC services or the application of policies or procedures. All volunteers are entitled to be treated with respect and if not, volunteer can expressed so. This will be considered a grievance.
Volunteers are responsible for reporting all hours worked. Instruction for reporting will be given at orientation. This documentation is important to show how much in dollars volunteers are saving SCMACPD.
